lung health and sleep enhancement center
Clinical research trials are a vital part of the development of new medications, treatment options, and medical technologies.   Participation in a clinical trial encourages patients to take an active role in their health care and is an invaluable resource in their treatment.

LHSEC (Lung  Health and Sleep Enhancement Center) is a comprehensive division of Pulmonary Associates, dedicated to the advancement of pulmonary medicine in all it's aspects.  Since 1994, LHSEC has participated in numerous trials and continues to do so.

Currently, we are conducting research in the following fields:

    -  Asthma
    -  COPD
    -  Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

For more information on specific studies we are involved in, see below.  Additional updates will be posted when made available.

COMPASS 3 is an open-label, prospective, phase 4, multicenter study evaluating the effectiveness of bosentan, alone or in combination with sildenafil to improve a patient's ability to exercise.

Another purpose of the study is to explore how the structure of the heart changes when taking bosentan alone or in combination with sildenafil.

The primary objective of this 100 subject trial is to determine the percentage of patients that achieve a target 6-MWT distance using a bosentan-based, stepped approach to therapy.

Eligible patients must be at least 18 years of age and be naive to treatment with advanced PAH (Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension) therapies.
