What are the benefits of a Clinical Trial?
Participation in a clinical trial encourages patients to take an active role in
their health care and often provides access to drugs and/or technologies that
may otherwise not yet be available.
Who can participate in a Clinical Trial?
Participation in any given Clinical Trial is determined by the specific
guidelines set forth for that study. Factors such as age, gender, race,
diagnosis, and medical history are some of the things that are reviewed before
enrollment.
What should I consider before participating in a Clinical Trial?
Some basic questions to answer when considering participation in a Clinical
Trial are:
- What is the purpose of the study?
- What kinds of tests and experimental treatments are involved?
- How do the possible risks, side effects, and benefits in the
study compare with my current treatment?
- How long will the trial last?
